Saying so long to 2009

Saying so long to the year of 2009~
As we leave this year and welcome a new... Lets give "Thanks" for what we have to be thankful for. Be it large or small or tiny. If we look deep within we will find it. We will leave this year and enter a new wonderful happy healthy 2010!
People are starting to have dinner with their families again. Mothers and fathers are baking with their children.
So I'm going to be adding a cookie recipe today and often throughout the new year. Please try your baking hand and leave a comment on how it turned out. Be it good or great. Sometime in 2010 we will be having a cookie get together. We will be sharing our cookie recipes in the cookie jar shop. While we enjoy refreshments.

Pink Sugar Cookies
1 cup butter
1 cup sour cream
3 drops of red food coloring
1 cup sugar
2 beaten eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
5 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
In a very large bowl cream butter with food coloring then add sugar. Then add beaten eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Set aside. In another bowl, sift all the dry ingredients together. Slowly add the dry to the wet mixture with a fork. Making sure there are no lumps or bumps.
Cover and refrigerate for a few hours.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Roll out dough on a clean flat surface that is lightly floured. Try not to knead the dough any extra. (The dough will get tough) Roll it to desired flatness. (Too thin will burn easy in the oven)
Use cookie cutters to desired shapes. Put on clean cookie baking sheet. Leave a small space between them. Bake at 375 for about 12 to 15 minutes.
Leave the light on in the oven to keep an eye on them. Opening the door will allow the temperature to drop.
Put hot baked cookies on cooling rack or large plate with spatula. Let cool before eating. Do not eat them when they just come out of the oven.
Good luck!

We do have neat old rolling pins and hundreds of cool cookie cutters and large old mixing bowls and hundreds of cookbooks at Jazz'e Junque.
