Damp day in Chicago

Saturday project

It's a damp cold 30 degree day in the Windy City. So Let's heat up our kitchen and bake some cookies!
Cherry Pink Spritz Cookies
You will need a cookie press for these.
Heat oven to 400 degrees ~ Take out the butter
In a smaller bowl sift together:
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
Set aside
In your large mixing bowl get your fork and cream together:
1 cup butter
A few drop of red food coloring
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix till it's light and fluffy. Next beat in
1 Egg
Slowly mix in dry mixture

If dough is too sticky, put in fridge for an hour or so.
Put pink dough in cookie press. Pick out a round wreath type looking disk. This will make a rounded design. Cut in quarters a red Maraschino cherry. Put the small cherry piece in the middle of the cookie. Press cookies on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 7 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
Makes about 85 cookies. ~Yum~
