Valentine Day cookies

With Valentine's Day around the corner ~ Here's a yummy roll out cookie you can cut out with a heart shaped cookie cutter and sprinkle with red sugar sprinkles. What could be better then a cookie jar filled with these yummy cookies? This should make about five dozen cookies.

Valentine Day Cookies
Take out your butter
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
In a very large bowl sift together:
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
Take 1/2 cup of room temperate butter cut this in with a pastry blender until it is of a course texture.
Use a fork and blend in:
1 egg (beaten)
2 tablespoons of cream or milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Now you can use your washed hands to mix this and form a ball. Don't over mix this or it will make the dough tough.
Wrap this in plastic wrap and refrigerate for a few hours. You don't want to roll out sticky dough.
You will need a non stick type baking sheet or lightly spray a non coated baking sheet with non stick cooking oil.
On a clean, dry table surface or large flat cutting board lightly sprinkle flour.
Divide the chilled dough into four hunks. Take your rolling pin and roll out the dough (not too thin) Take your heart shaped cookie cutter and press down and cut them out and put on the cookie sheet. These will spread so space them about an inch away from each other. Shake your red sugar sprinkles on them.
Bake 7 minutes (ovens very so some will need a minute or two more)
Cool on a wire rack.
